In the heart of the Hudson Valley sits The Omega Institute, a well known center for wellness and personal growth. Each year, Omega welcomes more than 23,000 people to attend their programs which run April through October. This year they have more than 350 inspirational workshops, conferences and personal training sessions planned.
We spoke to Joan from the bookstore about Omega for today’s retailer interview.
What makes Omega special?
Omega is a very special place. It is very beautiful visually, with acres and acres of gardens and plants and flowers. Our gardener, Pam out does herself every year. And on top of that beauty, it is a very healing place. We offer endless classes and workshops for staff and guests that are healing but Omega also seems to have an inner healing energy.
What other types of products do you sell at the Omega Bookstore?
In addition to clothing, we sell books, jewelry and all kinds of what we call sidelines. These include meditation products, yoga products, statues, personal care products, children’s toys, chimes, wall hangings, and on and on. It is magical really.
What do you like about working at the Omega Bookstore?
The thing I enjoy most is the people I work and live with and their humor and intelligence. There is always something going on that takes you to a different place where you can go and forget your worries and problems. I have lived here for twenty years and never get sick of it.
