Motivate your class by choosing a mat with a message, like this Heart and Stroke mat from Embrace Activism, or wearing an inpsirational shirt.
Wearing a motivational phrase can change your outlook on the day, whether you choose a t-shirt, jewelry, or another way to take your message with you. We asked people who make sharing inspiration their life’s work to tell us about the power positive message apparel has on them, and why they chose to share it with everyone around them.
Karen Whittier got her start when she decided to influence fate. She knew the benefits of yoga for those recovering from illness, and wanted to raise awareness. Her company, Embrace Activism, sells yoga mats in colors that correspond to the ribbons which remind us all of the importance of fundraising for cure research.
Last week, Karen was wearing a shirt that promotes her company while having coffee with a friend. The shirt featured the word Activist with a pink ribbon forming the A. Her waitress mentioned that she really liked the message and Karen’s spirits soared.
“I beamed and got a huge dose of motivation,” she says. “That interchange not only made my night but has continued to buoy my spirits even now.”
We all like a compliment and the effect of positive message apparel is a two-way street. You will motivate yourself and others while wearing it, but others can also motivate you by commenting on it.
Motivational speaker Val McLeod embraces the opportunity to spread a positive message. She travels the country speaking to groups about leadership, growth, and success strategies.
She calls herself a positive message billboard. If she’s not wearing business clothing, you can bet Val’s sporting a positive message shirt and maybe even a matching baseball cap. She knows how her messages affect the people she sees, and she takes spreading her inspiration very seriously.
“I am especially mindful of my demeanor when I am wearing one of my faith-building tees.” she says. “I cannot not imagine looking like a wilted piece of lettuce while wearing my lovely ‘Bloom where you are planted’ shirt.”
Sharing is what positive message apparel is all about. And what better place to do it than at work, where people often need an extra kick of motivation.
Michelle Gamble-Risley and her partner launched 3L Publishing last year, in the middle of the recession. They gave their staff Intentions bracelets for Christmas this past holiday season. Michelle says the bracelets are beautiful, but the real reason she bought them is the motivational power they’re said to produce. The purpose is to align thoughts and actions with positive power, helping the wearer attract her desires. The staff of 3L must desire a busy work week because they’re about to publish their 15th book in their first year of operations.
“Is it because of the jewelry? Well, I think its part of our overall positive attitudes and the jewelry conveys that way of thinking to the outside world,” she says. “It’s a symbol of who we are and a reminder to stay in the moment and keep our energy focused.”
Like the people we spoke with, only you can decide to focus your thoughts on positive outcomes and motivate yourself. Positive message apparel will give you the boost you need to stay on track and reach your goals – one phrase at a time.
